A MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND STEVE WANTS TO FORGET

Wonderful King Charles Cavalier Spaniel I met today by you.

ABOVE:  A BEAUTIFUL KING CHARLES CAVALIER SPANIEL I MET AT THE ROSE GARDEN

This weekend was going to be our Oregon Pinot wine tasting extravaganza, but instead poor Steve got a NASTY tummy bug and the entire weekend he spent in bed.  In an almost conscious moment on Saturday, I had him drop me off at the Portland International Rose Garden , which is usually in full bloom this time of year but we are about 2 weeks behind with our unusually long spring.

Portland Intnl Rose Garden, Memorial Day Weekend

The roses may not have been in bloom but the old Rhodies were in their glory.  I asked a couple of girls to help me out and take a photo of me by this massive Rhododendron to see the sheer scale of this plant.    This was only HALF of it!!!

Here is one of the few rose blooms open.  I plan to go back in 2 weeks and do this all over again but with rosc scent permeating the air and crowds of visitors to muscle my way through.  I will say it was a relaxing few hours I spent just dilly dallying around the garden and talking to people.  Its only a few miles away from out house

I worked on a lot of photos this weekend from Thailand and jewelry too.  This week I hope to get some goodies listed on Ebay. It’s been FOREVER since I’ve had any auctions up!!!

Hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend!!

Yuk… sick on the holiday… we had a LONG weekend, house full of kids, one graduate, one grandmother and lots of fun. The standing rib [prime rib] roast was a big hit and this girl has to be up in 6 hours…. Sandy, I want a digital SLR… what should I buy? I’ve always been a loyal Canon owner and have a Leica 35mm. Suggestions please!

Oh Jan it sounds like your weekend went fantastic!! How I would have loved to have visited my mom and kids in Minnesota this weekend.

Yep, I’m Canon all the way too. Nikon is great too but I started with my aresenal of Canon lenses so am sticking iwth what I know. I even got the Canonl High Def. video camera and never read the instructions…it was so intuitive!

This is probably the best value right now and highly rated. My older (3 years old) camera is a step down from this and took many many great pix in China, Thailand, Africa etc.

The lens you will want to purchase with the body is this one

You will never ever have to change your lens with this incredible zoom

I can’t believe the size of that plant you were standing in front of for the picture. Amazing. I love
the pictures of the flowers. I am not good with flowers at all. A friend of mine gave me an orchid plant just three weeks ago and she is coming for another visit and the last of the orchids fell off today. Bad plant, bad.

I forgot, get better Steve. Sorry to hear you were sick over the weekend.
Cindy Lawkoski and Bruce Shayne saw my puppies over the weekend and my son made a speech for a Memorial Day Ceremony. He looked very handsome in his dress uniform and he gave an excellent speech. I was quite proud of him.
