Owie!!!!! I really did the ultimate dork move yesterday!!! I was putting away some things in my studio and on my left side (my totally blind eye) out of no where appeared a metal rod which holds up my flex shaft glass grinder and it attacked me…in the eyeball!!!
My eye was wide open and it left a puncture in the shape of Australia my glaucoma doctor told me. I am in such pain you would not believe it!! Lots of Tylenol 3 and keeping my eyes closed. Everytime my good eye moves to look at something the bad eye moves too and sends me through the roof.
This was taken by Steve at 7:30 this morning on our way to the doctor with my white panda patch and I was trying to make “ears” to coordinate but it was a sad, drug induced attempt I’m afraid.
Now I need to go back to the hospital daily for a week or more to have it checked. THANK GOODNESS it was not my good eye is all I keep telling myself. I’m counting my blessings!!!!! I even had my glasses on when this happened but this does give more reason to always keep eye gear on my artist and gardening friends !!!
On a more up note…here is a stunning lily in bloom today called “Sweetheart OM” by B&D Lilies
And an awesome shot of Steve that I took in Central Park!!!

That will make everyone happy!!At least you didn’t do this before your trip and you got to experience that.Happy ThoughtsSandy from Salt Lake
Wow, sounds as bad as me!!! I swear I am always bumping into things and hitting my head…geeze…I feel your pain…partially…two wisdom teeth extracted and not healing nor going the best!! Soo sorry to hear of the insane pain, but geeze your better at keeping your spirits up than I!!!Take good care and your garden is beautiful!!! I just wish I could keep the Jap beetles away from my extensive herb garden much work and money put into it for it to be bug food!!

Ooooo…Sandra! So sorry to hear about your eye. That must hurt so much. Pampering yourself and letting others do it is now in order. It’s time to put a blindfold on and relax in a soothing tub of scented warm water, ask Steve for frequent foot rubs, relax into some beautiful music, and eat delicious foods. Let your eyes rest and recouperate a while. Blessings to you Sandra. Jan
Oh no Sandra…I am so sorry to hear about all the pain you are in. Nobody ever wants such a horrible thing to happen (even to a “bad eye”), but like Sandy Helm said…thank goodness you got to on your trip before this happened. I know Steve will take good care of you and your positive attitude will help you feel better soon…just don’t give into the temptation to look at anything for a while. Both Richard and I send prayers your way. Lois

I know a bit about eye injuries, and–for me–even worse than the pain is the fear and apprehension. So, Girlfriend, my prescription is… to follow all the good advice you’ve already received, and DON’T WORRY ‘BOUT NOTHIN’. You are in my prayers! Hugs! Jan
Bloody Hell ! What is the hells going on ?
Put the rods and sharp things on the right wall, low down …..
Glad you able to laugh about it,
Take it easy and get well !

Wow, Sandra–I am so sorry! If you had your glasses on, was it broken glass that cut your eye? Glad someone’s looking at it every day.Take good care of yourself!
OUCH! Ok… safety glasses are now a must while you are working in your studio! Sounds absolutely awful. Hope you are feeling better!!!

Oh Sandy, I am so sorry about your accident & the pain you’re in. I, too, send my prayers that you’ll recover quickly. Gotta tell ya, I found out yesterday that I have shingles….I was treating what I thought was poison ivy. Its all on one side of my face & I looked awful ’til today when most of the swelling went down after I got the meds. Hugs…..Pat
Sandra Miller says
OUCH..Shingles Pat!!! Those are miserable!!! Hopefully they will pass quickly. I had them years ago and remember them like it was yesterday!!
M-S and Linda…the kicker was that I had protective lenses on but the metal rod came in from the side and knocked the glasses off. I had safty glass in them so they just BOUNCED off the table. The eye is starting to itch tonite under that patech. Hope that means it’s healing!!
Marius. tThat’s the first thing I did..move the flex shaft..lol! Have a good nite all and thanks for stoping by!!!!
OMG….. i am just weak in the knees about this injury!!!! i can imagine the pain is horrendous. Im just so sorry for you, and what you are going through. as you know, i know just about everything about glaucoma because my mom has it, and has had one eye removed, her useless blind eye and had a prosthesis made. I tookcare of her when she had that eye removed and it was like soooo easy!!!! is that an option for you? i know its such a scary thing, i thought i would die a thousand deaths when we decided mom would go through this. it went like a breeze and her new artificial eye is so cool. she still has glaucoma in the good eye, and had glaucoma surgery and cataract surgery in that good eye. of course we hafta be so careful with the drops and the constant checkups…..but mom reads (mostly big print books) and never misses some of her tv shows…mostly the Minnesota Twins. i worry about you…I pray for relief of the pain for you and a quick recovery!!!!! love, kathe
Girlfriend, I evidently knew something was going on, ’cause I took a sympathy tumble on Thursday–nothing nearly so serious as you, but siatic (SP) nerve issues and numerous bruises. Nothing broken or PUNCTURED. When we finally got to talk last night, I’m so glad we can still laugh!!!! Huge hugs-hope to see you in a couple weeks
Sandra Miller says
Hi Kathe and Diana!!,
I came very close to geting a prosthesis eye a couple of years ago Kathe when you told me about your mom. I ended up waiting because the consensus was it put my good eye at risk of stress and a flareup having the surgery. If I get more pain in the bad eye they may need to do it eventually thought (gee wasn’t this poke in the eye pain enough…lol)
Diana us ole birds just keep getting knocked down and take off flying again…lol. Darn it girlfriend!!! That’s the last thing you needed!!! I hope you heal fast and don’t have any permanent damage to that nerve!!
I remember you thinking of a prosthesis at that time. i can certainly understand the not wanting to risk ANYTHING happening to the good eye. leave well enough alone. is tha pain still bad???? Diana, i can sympathize with you as i have sciatic problems too…..it really puts you to the floor sometimes. both of you girls take care of yourselves. as Stevie Nicks said to me last night in a song…”I fall down and i get up,and ive always had to fight everything that was wrong for the things that were right!”
