TWO FOR BAMBOO PENDANT…A PANDA PARADISE!

The goodies are starting to emerge from the studio slowly but surely!! Here is one that was quite the “bear” to accomplish but what it was all said and done turned out so incredible!!!

Today I finished my first in a series of reverse glazed pendants and necklaces for my PROJECT PANDA line!!! I stared at those little snuff bottles for hours in Xi’an in a shop and watched the masters at work glazing layer upon layer of intricate designs inside of teeny bottles.

The minute I got on the plane home I was sketching like a mad woman trying to figure out how I can mimic this in warm glass. The side of the pendant with the pandas on it is under 1/4″ of clear so it really has a lot of depth and dimension which I hope shows up here.

The two pandas in the photos were juvenille twin sisters at the Chengdu Panda base…I simply had to make my first pendant in the series to be a set of pandas to honor these magestic creatures..they are playing with their bright red balls like we saw in so many pieces of Chinese calligraphy art. They are literally peeking out from behind the white “stone” wall.

More in the kiln tomorrow!! I am excited to open it up an see all the experiments. Most I’ll chuck out but when one works…….ohhhhhhh it’s Magic time!!!

I will let you all know tomorrow if I will offer this for sale on the site or put it on Ebay. Still undecided and want to see what’s in the kiln in the AM first.

Have a good nite!

Sandra
