OK EVERYONE! I have set my self a CHALLENGE for the next two weeks. Our trip to China is coming soon and I am so busy getting things ready.
I wanted to try to fit in some jewelry making before I leave so I just had to commit myself to an exciting project now… or I would just fill the next month with looking at my suitcase/backpack pondering how I can fit all my clothes in there! LOL!
I was out in the garden yesterday and low and behold we got our very first FIG on our tree!!!! Ok..this thing borders between ugly and beautiful but I am going to attempt to pull the best out of this baby by using it as inspiration for an awesome pendant!

Can’t wait to see your completed pendant! Give that fig tree a couple of years and you will have so many you won’t know what to do with them, but the birds will! How exciting to be going to China, I’m sure you will come back with even more inspiration! 🙂 Amy L.
Ohhhhhh I’m so excited. WE love figs and I am tired of paying premium price for them so we just bought a couple of the ‘Negrone” variety of dwarf fig trees. We got one green fig too.
The China trip is getting close and I’m having a hard time keeping my excitement contained!!! I will show you all where we are staying in the next update. FREE!!! Thank you Steve for his “frequent stay” points at the Hilton (of course courtesy of his place of employment..lOL!
Sandy, add a fig leaf to that fig. Think that would make a really interesting look. Always thought the shape of the fig leaf was cool! LOVE the begonia leaf. Is the sun shining on it or is it that color? Looks like the sun is shining “through” it.
Wow…i love the colors of that fig….how they brighten up toward the stem! i can imagine you will make a lovely piece with this model. and that begonia…….angel wing is the perfect name. i adore the delicacy of it and the lighting is awesome. i need to have one of those…or several!!! cant wai to see what you make! already excited about seeing China Photos and you havent even left yet!!!!!
Hi Kathe and Yvette!! Yes that is the sun shining in from behind. The actual color is kind of a sage green with a rich salmon backside and salmon veining!!! It’s one of my favorite new garden plants this year. Maybe I can winter it over and give you each a division. It wintered over here in Oregon which shocked me when I saw the sprouting come up out of the pot!
Kathe..I am itching to see my China photos too!!! LOL! This trip seems so surreal right now…but reality will hit in another couple of weeks I’m sure!
Hugs
Sandy
Oooowwwww….a cutting would be wonderful! You could bring it to the National.
