Hello beautiful! You are about to become an even bigger star with Mom's new camera! Congrats! I just got the 40D after weeks of weighing the options! Very excited to start using this weekend!

omg...you got one too!! We both bought ours the same time!!!!! I started tossing around the options weeks ago too. Before I left for Asia. It was a hard decision but when the pro camera store owner told me the D40 had a very weather resistant body........well that's all it took to push me over the edge. Of course then I held it and it just "felt" right. I'm itching to get some time to use mine too. All I seem to be able to do right now is run outside between rain showers to snap a quick shot or two. Lots to learn since I do mostly everything manual. Just when I think I know where a button or dial is......I forget it...lol!!! Looking forward to seeing your new pix too!!!

Steve...thank you SO much for taking the time to comment!! I"m pretty much blown away by this camera. Today I actually had some sun and got some great shots.....lots of experimenting , trial and error but what fun!!

You are very welcome. Thank you in return for your comments. If you like experimenting try shooting in manual white balance (if you don't already). You just have to adjust the setting for each light condition. You will notice the colors will be much richer than if you just use auto WB. Do you shoot in RAW or JPEG? Be careful if you shoot in JPEG as you have to adjust the WB each time your light changes. If you forget to change for light conditions and are shooting in RAW you will be able to chage this before converting to a JPEG image. Does this make sense? Steve
