MOONBEAR RESCUE, CHENGDU CHINA 2008
I can hardly work on these images without tears coming to my eyes…or most often a big sick knot in my stomach.
You can read more about bile farming at animalsasia.org
These bears pictured in my album are the LUCKY ones who were saved from the bear farms and survived the catheter removal to live a life of leisure outside of their body sized cages they spent years in

Thanks for looking Jill!! It is such a hard thing to think that mankind can be so unkind to it's fellow creatures. The bright spot is that Animals Asia and other organizations are trying very hard to raise awareness among bile farmers in China. It is actually making a difference but very slowly.
These bears live very long lives in those cages if they dont' succumb to infection first from the unsanitary conditions. Bless their little bear hearts!!!

Awe, what a beautiful picture of such a lucky bear. I've seen documentaries on the plight of these special bears, it's just heartbreaking what they do to them.
