XIAN CHINA 2006 ...TERRACOTTA WARRIOR SITE
This World Heritage site outside of Xian China was a 2 day side trip just to see the famed warriors and it was SO worth the extra plane fare to get there!!!
We hired a private guide who managed to get us to the book store right away (we had no idea why) and she whisked us by a large coffee table book stack, grabbed one, had us pay for it, then whisked us again past the crowd (Chinese holiday no less) to have 2 very old Chinese men sign the book in calligraphy.
Not until we were leaving the site at the end of the day did we find out what it was all about. The two men were the original farmers who had unearthed the first evidence of the site. It was an anniversary of the founding of the warriors and we were SO lucky to have been at the right place at the right time!
