The Giant Buddha of Phuket
This beautiful Buddha could be seen from all over the island perched high atop a hill in Phuket. It was being built while we were there with marble tiles which they offered to the visitors for 100 THB (around 3.00 usd) per tile to help finance this huge venture.
Liz and I each bought a tile and were able to put our name etc on the marble which will be affixed permanently to the surface of the sculpture with our names facing inside.
A storm was rolling in as we were signing our names and we hightailed it to the car just as the skys opened up. It made for some dramatic photos of the Buddha.
