MY KILN
This kiln I have nicknamed "HOTTIE" and as you can see she is on her way up to temperature . The temp reading shows up in red LED lights.
She is computer controlled, but I tweek her time and temp for each firing according to what I have going into her belly.
A full fuse that melts the glass into a smooth puddle is 1500 degrees or so.
These pendants have been through a full fuse cycle 5 times.
Now after grinding and cutting they go back in to the kiln once again for a "fire polishing" at a lower temp to keep the shape from distorting….this will give the edges that were cut a smooth glossy finish.
