December 22…A DAY SHOPPING FOR HANDCRAFTS

LATER I "BETTA" TELL YA ABOUT THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY!

What an incredible day it was today (December 21).   After retrieving Ek from the airport, Pat drove us to have an outstanding lunch overlooking a little pond.  We were the only people in the place and we ate a number of traditional dishes….all local favorites and not toned down for tourists and spicy to the max….just the way we like it!

The rest of the day was spent (uh I mean…. we “spent”…the rest of the day) shopping for hand crafted and artisan treasures at Baan Celadon, the rug store, the silk factory and teak carvers.  We found so many beautiful things we wanted but had no place for them at home.  Purchasing smaller tidbits was the way to go on this trip.   Silk scarves, Steve had a custom shirt made which while be delivered to our hotel today.  Can you believe the school of bettas I found this time!!! I was in Teak Betta heaven!!!

A DELICOIUS PLATE FULL OF DEEP FRIED BAMBOO WORMS. STEVE ATE MOST OF THEM BUT I HAD ABOUT A DOZEN. NO CREAMY CENTERS. JUST CRISP NUTTY FLAVOR!!

If you read the descriptions under each photo (in full size view) you will find out much more about our day  shopping the hand crafts of Chiang Mai.  Today (December 22) we will be heading out to Bhubing palace and it’s incredible gardens, then to the Wat overlooking Chiang Mai….one of the most peaceful places on earth.

You can pretty much guarantee there will be more delicious food involved the entire day as well.   We leave around 8:00 AM so I had  better sign off for now.  You can be sure there will be more pix to come
